i033.radikal.ru/1104/b3/3942cd72e248.jpg Demitri looked at his parents in as much shock a 10 year old could possess. His parents were trying to get rid of him, he couldn't believe his ears. What about his opinion, he didn't want to leave! His eyes watered as he mumbled out a small cry of ''why?'' His mom gave him a sad look before shaking her head, the sadness of her son causing her to cry also, leaving the explaining to his father, a stern man. His face was pointed and a pair of thin glasses sat at the crook of his nose. Many people wondered why his mother fell for him, and his son was one of those people. "Son, we are sending you to the boarding school because we are worried about your studies. You are falling behind ever since you started socializing with that... child next door." He said, his voice altering into a venomous tone. "But Dad-" His father gave him the look that said no more, before standing, pulling his mother along with him "Go pack Demitri. You are leaving tomorrow morning." Demitri stood and ran to his room, his eyebrows scrunched and eyes flowing tears. He went to his window, quickly opening it and knocking on the neighboring one as the houses never had any spaces between them. It was only when the little girl known as his best friend answered that the tears really began to flow down his cheeks. "My parents are sending me away to a boarding school tomorrow." He knew there was no fighting them so instead of complaining he gave his best friend a promise instead "I'll be back as soon as I can. You will always be my best friend!" They talked forever, sharing memories and what not before his mother came up to tell him to sleep. The next morning would be the start of something new.

Violet was devastated when she learned that Demitri was leaving, she simply didn't want to accept it but she knew that she would eventually have to come to terms with it. She could hear every word that was being yelled between the family next door, what she was really waiting for was demitri to open his window so she could come over. While listening and waiting she heard that it was because of who she assumed was her which made her heart sink even further.
As soon as the window opened and she heard his voice she climbed into the window with the trained excellence of all the trees she had climbed around here. She clasped her pinkie around his when he he told her he would be back as soon as he could, but she left like it would be years before he came back because he was going to a school of all places.
They talked until she heard the sounds of someone coming up the stairs, so she slipped back into her room and waved bye to him for what felt like the last time. Even if he didn't come back she knew that she would never forget him for he was her first best friend and a kid would never forget that.

Demitri drove through the small town cautiously, it had not changed a bit since the last time he was running though these streets. it had been eight years since he left, and his father wanted him to go to the college closer to home. The man was trying to be nicer since his mother passed not even a month ago.
It never took long to navigate the small town as he pulled into his old driveway, the houses as close to each other as before. He let his gaze fall on the neighboring house for a bit before shrugging and walking inside. His father greeted him with a strained hug, but he didn't attempt to return.
"Demitri, Your room has been redone to look more mature, I hope you don't mind. All your old stuff is in the Attic if you are looking for it."
He just nodded, to tired from the long drive to really care about anything at that moment. He just wanted a shower.
Heading up the stairs he unpacked the few bags he brought with him, grabbing a towel before heading into the hall for the bathroom.
The shower was quick and he reentered his room with just a pair of sweat pants on, it wasn't until he turned around that he noticed his window open, and a girl staring back at him with an unseen emotion in her eyes.
He lifted a brow at her, he had expected her to still be living there, but the proof did shock him a bit. Seeing as he was probably being rude, he spoke, his voice smooth sounding almost aristocratic, "Violet."

Violet was just getting back from her run was she saw an unfamiliar car in the neighbors drive way, but then again with the death of Mrs. O'hare she had seen plenty of unfamiliar cars next door.
Hoping up the steps and heading to her room, the past few years she felt the blinds up due to the fact that no one ever went into the room that was facing her window so she had lost the fear of anyone seeing her. So when she saw someone standing in the room she was a little taken aback, and embarrassed from the fact that who ever it was was looking at her in her skimpy running outfit; having always ran where very few people saw her she wasn't used to it far that well.
When she heard his voice it brought up old memories of her childhood best friend Demitri, she she could tell that even if this was him something had changed him. This person wasn't the whimsical little kid she knew as a kid, this person seemed far more sophisticated than that he didn't seem like he belonged in a small town like this.
"Demitri?" She whispered her eyes growing larger in disbelief, when he left she truly didn't believe that he was ever coming back; but with his mothers death she should have seen his arrival back to town happening.
"Sorry about your mom, I was really torn up about it she always helped me out when I needed." She told him her arms now holding up on the window seal and her head poking out the window so she could get a little closer to him

"Sorry about your mom, I was really torn up about it she always helped me out when I needed." She told him her arms now holding up on the window seal and her head poking out the window.
Demitri shrugged his shoulders, choosing to direct his attention to his bag as he began unpacking, and setting things on the unfamiliar bed "It happens" He stated. He was tired of talking about it. He and his mother had been close, or well, She had thought they had been. He had never really opened up completely to her before she had died in the hit and run. He regretted it to a point, but guessed it didn't matter much now that she was gone.
Once he had finished unpacking one of the bags, he turned back to the window, walking over smoothly, hands gripping the curtains. He looked her in the eyes, his emotions fluctuating. She had been his first real friend, so of course he hadnt forgotten her, but the years apart had torn at their relationship to the point he barely recognized her; Not that he didn't look completely different.
"I have to get to sleep. College tomorrow." He said, before Shutting the curtains in her face, only feeling slightly guilty as he turned the light off and lay himself on the bed, staring at the ceiling for a good hour before sleep finally caught up with him.

Violet wasn't expecting for there relationship to pick up right before it left off but she really wasn't expecting to be shut out by Demitri. She understood that he needed his time alone, but the old Demitri she knew would have stayed up all night telling her exactly what was going on and how he felt.
It was in that moment that she realized they would most likely never be friends again. So she closed her window a little to harshly and snapped the lock closed to make a point before closing her curtains for the first time in years before heading to the bathroom for a shower.
Thinking about all that happened she realized there was a sharpness to his gaze now, that didn't belong to a small town boy, but then again he was hardly a small town boy at this point. She didn't know what happened to him while he was gone and while she was wondering with every fiber of her being she wasn't going to pry.
He had made it clear that their relationship was over so she wasn't going to peruse it any further, but then she wondered if she was over thinking their small encounter while she laid in bed after her shower. She was always bad at over thinking everything at people did, but she felt that she was pretty accurate with her feelings this time.

Demitri had woken silently, and looked over at the clock, noticing he had only slept for maybe 4 hours. He hadn't been sleeping full nights for a while, so he was used to it. He sat up, swinging his legs over the side of the bed, letting his feet slowly touch the cold ground, hoping they would get used to it fast. They didn't.
He headed for the shower, deciding the warm water would help. He stood under the spray for a while just thinking over the past few weeks. He had to leave his life in the city behind, along with his few close friends, and he had yet to get used to not waking up in a dorm, his roommate and closest friend snoring away as he never woke up unless Demitri did it for him.
He sighed into the steam before exiting the shower, drying off slowly and slipping into his average pair of fitted jeans and a long sleeved shirt. He didn't bother with his hair, instead slipping a beanie on and walking down tot he kitchen to make himself a simple breakfast.
Once the small tasks were done he exited the house, he would need to get his schedule before the other people got in to the school, so he decided to make his way over, vaguely wondering if Violet went to the university also, and if they would have any classes together.

Violet woke with a groan, cracking one eye open she saw the flashing lights of her alarm and the horrific sound that followed. Pushing the button from frustration of having to wake up she stretched before making herself get out of bed.
She fixed a pot of coffee and a bagel before looking through her closet. Picking out some black thin baggy to short of pants and a beige ruffly shirt and a pair of wedges that matched the shirt and headed out the door with her bagel, coffee, and backpack in tow.
Hoping in her car that was close to breaking down and headed in the direction of the college, noticing that the car was gone from next door. She already knew the campus inside and out so she headed to get her schedule and made her way to her first class. Not being able to help it, her mind wondered if her and Demitri had any classes together assuming that he was going to this college.
When she realized what she was letting her mind wonder to she got mad and furiously pushed the thought from mind and sat in the very front of the class. Starting the process of setting everything in its place on her spot of the table she noticed they had a new professor that she had never seen before and also saw the now familiar black haired Demitri walk into the room.
Quickly looking down at her things, not wanting to give him the satisfaction of knowing she was upset by their encounter the night before.

The schedule was easy enough to memorize, years of being pushed in his studies helping his memory as he shoved the now useless paper into his bag. He walked into the first class, expecting to be the first one there, as he was nearly 15 minutes early. He was surprised to find Violet sitting in the front row, and putting her stuff on the desk in front of her.
He sighed and took the only other available seat in the front row, right next to his childhood friend, much to his disappointment. He felt like she may end up distracting him eventually.
Pulling his bg into his lap, he followed her example and began setting things on his desk, starting with a notebook and ending with a few colored pens. He had learned to color code everything since his parents had pushed him to be a straight A student over the years he had been in school.
It was then that he noticed he forgot to buy erasers, and after a moment of thought, decided talking to Violet was worth the eraser, and turned to her, his head rested softly on his hand "Do you have an extra eraser?"

Violet was silently seething when Demitri sat next to her but at the same time she was excited for some reason. She had everything perfectly set out when he asked her for an eraser.
Grabbing the eraser to give it to him she made the mistake of looking at him, and if it wasn't for the class being there she would have giggled. She wanted so desperately for them to be best friends again that she realized she would do anything for that to happen if he was willing to let her.
Handing it to him she started taking notes that were far more than needed before the professor told them to leave. She headed to her car as that was the only class she had for the day and she was ready to leave and go for her run, it was the only time she could clearly think about all that had happened.
She wanted to think about some ways to get Demitri back but she wasn't sure who he was any more, or if he was worth getting back since he wasn't the same person whole left years ago.

Demitri didn't care to pay attention in class, as he had already learned it in his last school. It would seem he was very far ahead of them. So instead he spent the time drawing in his notebook, occasionally answering a question the teacher tauntingly sent him to check if he was paying attention.
School went by moderately slow, and he debated on leaving at lunch but stuck it out. He didn't want another reason for his father to reprimand him. His father had been giving him shit passive aggressively for weeks, as if the death of his mom would cause him to snap if he confronted him.
Once he was finally home he went straight to his room. He opened the window to get some fresh air, making sure the curtains stayed closed. He was about to finish the homework he had started in class when his phone rang, and knowing the ring tone, he just picked it up without looking.
"Jay" He stated more than asked "What do you want?"
He decided to put the phone on speaker, as he didn't like the sweat that accompanied the act of keeping it to his cheek.
"Duuuuude, Its been so weird here since you left. I haven't had someone insult me in like days." He could feel the other grinning on the other end.
He just scoffed "Masochist." causing the other boy to laugh roughly into the phone before it went eerily silent "Have you broke the news to your dad yet?" He asked, his tone sorta quiet.
Demitri dropped his pen and sighed, pushing his hair out of his face "Not yet, I don't know how to tell him."
The boy on the other end sighed "Well, Just don't wait till it's to late okay. But hey, I gotta go. Mr.Dickface gave me another detention." He hung up without saying bye, and Demitri sighed, going back to his homework.

She was laying on her bed after her run when she heard the sound of a slamming door and the sound of the window next to her being opened.
Her curiosity got the best of her when she heard the sound of a phone ringing and Demitri talking. To Violets surprise he put the phone speaker, so she quietly listened to the phone call. Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back she always said.
"Duuuuude, Its been so weird here since you left. I haven't had someone insult me in like days." "Masochist." "Have you broke the news to your dad yet?" "Not yet, I don't know how to tell him."
Now she really needed to hangout with him so she could figure out what they were talking about. When she heard him get off the phone she got off her bed and slipped though her window and through his into his room right onto his bed.
"Hey, so what exactly happened?" She asked draped across his bed just now realizing she was still wearing her running outfit; then she realized that it was Demitri so she had nothing to worry about.
